The next meeting of the Rice-Russell Tennessee SABR chapter will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The location will be the Old Timers Baseball Facility in Shelby Park in Nashville. We will have a catered lunch there. (Details and cost TBA.)

Our guest speaker will be Rick Mosely, creator of the "Legends of the Game: Negro and Latin Leagues Baseball Game," a Monopoly style board game for children and adults. To learn more about the game, visit the following links:

Presentations on your research endeavors are encouraged. Remember, they can be as simple as discussing what you’re working on to a Power Point presentation. Please let us know if you’re interested in reserving time to do so.

To learn more about the Old Timers baseball facility at Shelby Park, visit the following link:

Directions to the Old Timers facility:

I-65 from Birmingham:  Come almost to downtown and take I-40 East (toward Knoxville).  Move into the left lane and take I-24 West (Clarksville); be careful with merging traffic!  The Shelby Avenue exit (#49) is approximately one-half mile.

I-24 from Chattanooga and I-40 from Knoxville:  Come almost to downtown and take the Clarksville-Louisville exit onto I-24 West.  The Shelby Avenue exit (#49) is approximately one-half mile.

I-40 from Memphis:  Take the I-40 East exit (toward Nashville), move to the Louisville lane.  Once you come to the Clarksville-Louisville-and Chattanooga split, take Chattanooga.  The Shelby Avenue exit (#49) is approximately a mile and a half.

Directions from the Shelby Avenue exit (Exit #49):  (This is the same exit as for LP Field where the Tennessee Titans play) Go east on Shelby Ave. (away from downtown) and turn right onto 5th Street (first light).  Go one-half mile to the dead end at Davidson Street.  Turn left onto Davidson Street, then go straight for a mile and a half.  Davidson Street will lead you to the Old Timers baseball complex (which is the first ballfield you will come to).  Look for the Vinny Links golf course and turn left just before the ball diamond (behind the first base dugout) and park on the street next to the entrance.  The meeting room is on the second floor behind the press box.

There is no true address for the facility, so Mapquest does not show the location.  We will be sure that everyone has a map with directions.

We look forward to seeing everyone again!
